Sam Lyons, Thursday, 28 January 2010 In the lead up to the Oceania Championships, the ICF held a Women's C1 development camp at the Penrith Whitewater Course.
Over 10 Women's C1 athletes participated in the 3 day camp which was coached by Australian National Team Coach Mike Druce and French C1 paddler, Edern Le Reut.
The tough program involved both on and off water sessions and was aimed at the further development of the relatively new discipline in the region.
National Performance Director, Richard Fox, was very impressed by the level of skill and commitment on show.
"It is great to see such a competitive enviroment out there" Fox says
"Oceania has been leading the way in this class and this camp will hopefully spur on the participants to bigger and better things in the coming year"
C1W was first introduced as an International event at the 2009 Oceania Championships and makes it's World Championship debut this year in Slovenia.
